Key Responsibilities

Research & Innovation

  • Execute experimental plans to evaluate new raw materials, technologies, and chemistries for product applications.
  • Assist with experimental design and data analysis — including stability, performance, and compatibility testing — under guidance from senior technical staff.
  • Contribute to technical differentiation efforts by supporting prior-art review, documenting learnings, and assisting with invention disclosure materials as needed.

Formulation & Development

  • Prepare and evaluate new formulas and reformulate existing products to meet performance, cost, sustainability, and regulatory targets under technical direction.
  • Conduct performance and stability testing; analyze data and draft clear technical summaries and reports.
  • Support formulation optimization for manufacturability, scale-up, and cost efficiency.
  • Support pilot plant and production scale-up activities, including sample prep, data collection, and issue documentation to ensure smooth transfer from lab to manufacturing.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with Operations, Quality, and Regulatory to support compliance with OSHA, EPA, and relevant industry standards.
  • Support customer-related technical requests and investigations with oversight from senior staff (e.g., sample development, testing, field issue documentation).
  • Maintain accurate documentation of procedures, results, and recommendations in accordance with company protocols.

Safety & Lab Practices

  • Maintain a safe, organized laboratory environment in compliance with company and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
  • 2–5 years of hands-on experience in formulation, applied R&D, or product development (aerosol, coatings, adhesives, or related industries preferred).
  • Strong laboratory skills and working knowledge of experimental design, including Design of Experiment (DOE) principles.
  • Familiarity with laboratory instrumentation, testing methods, and raw material evaluation.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, data analysis ability, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills for preparing technical reports and collaborating across teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with LIMS or lab documentation systems a plus.

Working Conditions

  • Full-time, onsite role based in our Martinsburg, WV facility.
  • Standard Monday–Friday schedule (8 hours/day).
  • Requires extended periods of standing or walking in a manufacturing and laboratory environment.
